RENO — Lindsey Drew set a career record Wednesday when he reached double figures for the third straight game.
Drew scored 13 points. He also pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists.
Those numbers helped Nevada to a 92-83 win against Wyoming at Lawlor Events Center.
It was Drew’s offense in the first half that helped Nevada to a 36-33 lead despite a slow start.
His 3-ball from the left corner put Nevada ahead 30-26, and after Wyoming retaliated with a 3-pointer of its own, Drew drained two free throws and a jump shot in the last 1:22. He had nine in the opening 20 minutes.
HALL STILL OUT
Sophomore swingman Josh Hall missed his second straight game because of illness.
Musselman pointed out that is the first time in his tenure that somebody has missed a game because of illness. It has forced the Pack to play essentially a six-man rotation with Hallice Cooke stepping in to play 28 minutes.
“He is going to have to work his way back in shape,” Musselman said after the game.
UP NEXT
The Pack takes to the road this weekend for a conference battle against Air Force on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Nevada has won four straight against the Falcons, two last season and one in Eric Musselman’s first year as head coach.
Air Force is 0-2 in conference and 6-8 overall. The Falcons are 10th overall in the conference scoring (67.6) and seventh overall in defense (70.1). In conference games, the Falcons are last in scoring (58.5) and 10th in defense (79)
GOOD START
Six teams — Nevada, UNLV, Wyoming, San Diego State, Fresno State and Boise State — have posted 10 or more wins thus far.
The best conference wins to date are SDSU’s 72-70 win over Gonzaga and Nevada’s 88-81 win over Rhode Island.
Boise State is getting votes in the USA Today poll, but the Pack is not. Hard to figure that one out when you consider Boise has played an easier schedule. The Broncos did beat Illinois State on the road and Oregon at home.
BY THE NUMBERS
The win was Nevada’s 13th straight at Lawlor spanning the last two seasons, and the Pack is 37-4 at home under Musselman … This is the third time that Nevada has five players in double figures … Nevada has now won four straight against the Cowboys.
COMEBACK KIDS
Wyoming has trailed at the half in its last five games. In that span, Wyoming has posted three wins. The losses were to Northern Colorado and Nevada.
