A new sitcom called “Casino Boss” starring comedian, movie star and Saturday Night Live alum, Joe Piscopo, is filming in the Carson Nugget Casino, located at 507 N. Carson St.

Show producers are holding a casting call for extras to appear in the pilot at Alatte inside the Nugget on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 4-7 p.m.

Area residents and guests ages 21 and over are encouraged to apply. No acting experience is necessary.

The show films Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 9-11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Area residents are invited to sign up for as many shifts throughout the three days as they wish.

A full cast of comedians and performers including Bob Zany, comedian and the real “Bob” from the “Bob & Tom” syndicated radio show, Grammy nominated singer, songwriter and award-winning filmmaker, Linda Chorney and Kabir Singh are part of the cast.

Locals Roger Diez, Cameron Crane and Sophie Moeller are also part of the cast. The show is being directed by Yvette Fintland and written by the Carson Nugget’s owner, Dean DiLullo, loosely based on the iconic history of the Carson Nugget.

“The premise of the script is ‘How hard can it be to run a casino?’” DiLullo said. “Every day funny things happen in the casino and this sitcom has captured them.”

Piscopo was chosen for the lead role because he’s simply the best casino performer in his genre, DiLullo said.

“Piscopo is charismatic and his singing and acting can take you back to the golden age of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack,” he said. “Joe has been a great friend for years and has hosted the grand opening for several of my casinos. It is always high-energy when Piscopo is in the house.”

A public meet and greet with the cast is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 10, from 6-7 p.m. in the Loft Bar inside the Carson Nugget Casino.

“Carson City is going to love meeting Joe and the cast,” DiLullo said. “Everyone is encouraged to come to the Carson Nugget and experience what goes on behind the scenes in making a great television show.”
