The annual Nevada District 1 All-Star Tournament kicks off Wednesday at Governors Field.
The tournament format is double-elimination with consolation games. Each team is guaranteed at least three games. Once a team loses twice it has no chance to play for the title.
The 10-year-old squad starts play Wednesday at 5 p.m. on Field 3. If Carson wins, it would return to action on Friday.
The 11s open play on Thursday at 5 p.m. against Centennial with the winner advancing to a Friday game against South Tahoe.
The 12s open play Wednesday at 7:30 against Reno American with the winner playing North Tahoe on Friday.
The junior tournament has just three teams — Reno American, Reno National and Carson City. Reno American plays Carson on June 27 at 6 p.m.
Streeter shoots 74
at Presidents Cup
Kathy Streeter shot low gross of 74 and Gail Nelson had a low net of 59 to lead their team to a 127 net. The third member of the team was Anita Treants.
Also shooting 127 net was the trio of Jean Barnett, Nancy Martinelli and Deb Ford. The trios of Jackie Allard, Cherie Jewett and Georgia Silva, and Mary Bennett, Sandy Lawrence and Susie Zimmerli both finished at 131 net.
Fun in Sun tourney
set at Carson Valley
Saturday is the day for Carson Valley’s Fun in the Sun Tournament for mixed couples.
The cost is $45 for the event that includes golf, cart, lunch and $10 prize fund.
There will be a Beach Ball Drive, A Sand Toy Toss, Arm Floatie Tee Shots and Full Snorkel Putt.

Sparman wins at
Carson Valley
Jack Sparman shot a net 71 to win the recent Carson Valley Men’s Golf Club event. Sparman topped Paul Cwalina by two shots and Chris Willing by three for the Flight A top spot.
Mike Davis won Flight B with a 64, a shot better than David Morris and three better than Guy Sparks. Bruce Sanford won Flight C with a 71, one better than Brent Holderman and three better than Paul and Larry Lockwood, and Larry Rutledge.
