Fallon girls take second in Friday’s frosh/soph meet

The Lady Wave track and field team finished second and the boys were seventh in Friday’s High Desert Frosh/Soph meet at McQueen High School.

Reno won the girls division with 111 points, followed by Fallon coming in at 94.5. McQueen won the boys division with 149.5 points and Fallon’s 32 was second-best among 3A Northern schools.

Results include Greenwave athletes placing in the top 10.

Aisha Sharron won both the triple and high jumps with marks of 32 feet, 1 inch, and 4-8. She also led Fallon with a fifth-place finish in the long jump in 14-1 followed by Kyle Dochtermann in 10th at 12-1. Savannah Robinson finished fourth in the triple jump at 25-4.5 and fifth in the high jump at 4-2.

Tiffany Sorensen won the shot put at 28-5 and was second in the discus at 83-11.

Kyndal Collins led Fallon in the track events, finishing first in the 200-meter dash in 28.77 seconds and second in the 100 in 13.72. Sharron finished sixth in the 100 in 14.21.

Makayle Mathisen took second in the 1600 in 6:08.38 and sixth in the 800 in 2:49.95, followed by Robinson in ninth at 2:53.68. Hailey Guerrero was ninth in the 100 hurdles in 18.70 and 10th in the 300 hurdles in 62.77.

The relay team of Fiona White, Dochtermann, Collins and Vera Vaz finished fifth in the 4x200 in 2:06.22, and Sorensen, Guerrero, Collins and Dochtermann finished sixth in the 4x100 in 57.20.

Zeke Washington took seventh in the 200 dash in 25.78 and Bryan Ugalde was sixth in the 800 in 2:25.83. Morgan Lawry finished seventh in both the 110 and 300 hurdles in 20.51 and 49.42, both personal bests. The relay team of Kayden Orong, Caden Bowman, William Howard and Washington finished fifth in the 4x100 in 49.99, and Robert Beckford, Howard, Ugalde and Washington finished fifth in the 4x200 in 1:47.06. William Dick, Will Swisher, Daniel Tapia and Logan Strong took fifth in the 4x800 in 9:57.25.

Bowman won the long jump in 18-6, a personal best, and finished eighth in the triple jump in 34-2. Ugalde followed in ninth with a mark of 33-6, a personal best.
