RENO — Nevada women’s basketball senior T Moe has been selected to receive the fourth annual Jayme King Inspiration Award.

The Jayme King Inspiration Award is presented annually to a Wolf Pack student-athlete who exhibits courage in overcoming adversity whether it be in athletics, academics or life. Named after former softball student-athlete Jayme King who maintained a positive attitude and earned her degree despite multiple bouts with cancer, the award is given to student-athletes who serve as an inspiration to those around them and encourage others to strive for success no matter what challenges they face.

Moe has served as an inspiration to others in the way she has rebounded from three ACL tears during her college career. Moe first suffered a season-ending ACL injury midway through her freshman season and came back to play a full season her sophomore campaign. The next two years were a rough stretch for Moe who then suffered ACL tears in back-to-back years, cutting her 2014-15 short and ending her 2015-16 season before it began.

Returning from three knee injuries is something nearly unheard of in college athletics, but Moe put in the time and hard work to recover and return to the game she loves. On Nov. 11, 2016, Moe played her first collegiate game in two years and scored 18 points to lead the Wolf Pack.

Since that time Moe has put in back-to-back full seasons to cap her career at Nevada. She had a career season this past year and became Nevada’s 13th 1,000-point scorer on March 5. She helped lead the Wolf Pack women’s basketball team to its first appearance in the championship game of the Mountain West Tournament as well as the Final Four of the Women’s Basketball Invitational. She also leaves a legacy at Nevada with her name scattered throughout the record book.

In addition to her accomplishments on the court, Moe has excelled in the classroom. She earned her bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies in 2016 and has earned Academic All-Mountain West and Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors throughout her career. She will earn her master’s degree in educational leadership this May and plans a career working with troubled and at-risk youth.

“It is a huge honor to receive the Jayme King Inspiration Award,” Moe said. “I am so honored that I can play a small part in continuing Jayme’s legacy of inspiring others in the face of adversity.”

Moe received the award from members of the King family at the Wolf Pack softball game vs. Fresno State on Friday at Hixson Park.
