Jailene Salciedo pitched a no-hitter after Caydee Farnworth also pitched a complete game shutout as the Carson High softball team swept Hug on Saturday.
Farnworth pitched the shutout in Carson’s 10-0 win in the opener and Salciedo pitched the no-hitter on the Senators 12-0 win in the nightcap.
Salciedo struck out 10 and walked one over five innings in her complete game effort. CHS jumped out to an 8-0 lead when it scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. Salciedo, Farnworth, Kassidy Cooley and Camryn Quilling all drove in runs during the inning.
The big hit in the first came when Quilling belted a grand slam home run. Cooley also homered in the first and Salciedo homered in the fourth to give the Senators a 9-0 lead.
Carson belted four home runs as the game ended in the bottom of the fifth on the mercy rule when Kedra Luschar hit a three-run home run for the final margin.
CHS had 16 hits. Kedra Luschar and Kailee Luschar each had three hits while Lauren Hawkins, and Salciedo each added two hits for the Senators. Carson also played perfect defense as it didn’t commit an error.
The Senators also jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first in the opener. Kedra Luschar, Farnworth, Hawkins, Kailee Luschar and Bella Kordonowy all drove in runs during the inning.
Kedra Luschar hit a three-run home run during the rally. Cooley homered in the second as Carson took a 10-0 lead.
Carson had 15 hits. Salciedo and Kailee Luschar each had three hits and Farnworth and Hawkins each added two hits for the Senators. Carson also didn’t commit an error in the opener.
Dayton 12, Spring Creek 0
Amanda Woitas pitched a complete game shutout in Dayton’s win over Spring Creek on Saturday. The Dust Devils scored seven runs in the second to take an 8-0 lead.
Woitas, Marissa Hein, Julie Rogacs and Aleea McGill-Howe all drove in runs during the inning, with McGill-Howe and Rogacs hitting home runs. McGill-Howe also singled in the first as Dayton took a 1-0 lead.
Woitas pitched a complete game one-hitter, striking out four and walking none over five innings in the game that was called after 4 1/2 innings due to the mercy rule.
Dayton had 13 hits. Woitas and Hein each had three hits and Caleigh Onstott and McGill-Howe each added two hits for the Dust Devils.
BASEBALL
McQueen 10, CHS 0
Robert Snelling shut down Carson as he pitched five shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out eight and walking one. CHS was held to three hits. Kobe Morgan went 2-for-3 and Kahle Good added the other hit for the Senators.
Carson will host Damonte Ranch at Ron McNutt Field at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
