While it’s not expected to be as big as this past week’s storm in which as much as a foot of snow was reported in some areas of Carson City, another storm is bringing more snow to the area over the weekend.
The National Weather Service is forecasting the brunt of the storm will come late Saturday night and continue through Sunday. The forecast calls for a possible 1 to 3 inches of snow after 10 p.m. Saturday and another 1 to 3 inches of snow on Sunday.
The forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of snow after 10 a.m. Friday and a 50 percent chance of snow Friday night with the possibility of less than an inch of snow. There’s a 40 percent chance of snow on Saturday with the possibility of less than a half inch of snow.
The storm will begin to move out Sunday night when there’s a chance of snow showers. There’s a slight chance of snow showers on Monday with clear skies expected for Tuesday.
Again while not as big as this past week’s storm, this weekend’s storm will bring another significant amount of snow to the mountains as at least more than a foot of snow can be expected at the higher elevations. The forecast for Lake Tahoe at lake level calls for 2 to 4 inches possible Saturday afternoon, 6 to 10 inches possible Saturday night and another 4 to 8 inches on Sunday.
