Mike Thomas plans to lecture about “Bigfoot” as scheduled on Friday night at Western Nevada College’s Jack C. Davis Observatory.
However, his presentation on “Future War” on Saturday night has been canceled because of the National Weather Service advising people not to travel in the area that evening because of the forecast of snow.
Friday’s lecture is free and begins at 6:30 p.m.; doors to the observatory open at 6 p.m.
Weather permitting on Saturday nights when lectures aren’t scheduled, the observatory is open to the public from sundown to 11 p.m. At this time, the Western Nevada Astronomical Society hosts Star Parties, bringing together people with an interest in astronomy. Newcomers are always welcome.
The observatory follows a policy that if it is snowing, the lecture and/or Star Parties will be canceled.
The observatory is located at 2699 Van Patten Drive in Carson City.
