Michael Anthony Gazard, 40, of Silver Springs was killed as a result of the crash.
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to a serious injury crash involving two vehicles at about 6 a.m. on Highway 50 near the intersection of Topaz Street in Silver Springs.
Preliminary investigation shows a white 2006 Ford F-350 pickup was traveling southbound on Topaz Street approaching the intersection with US-50. A silver 2003 Infiniti M45 sedan was traveling eastbound on US-50 approaching the intersection with Topaz Street.
The driver of the Ford F-350 failed to yield the right of way and entered the intersection, causing the front of the Infiniti sedan to strike the front of the Ford F-350. The vehicles came to rest in the eastbound travel lane and outside shoulder. Both drivers were transported via CareFlight to Renown Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Gazard, the driver of the Infiniti sedan, died later that evening. The eastbound travel lane was closed at the time of the crash and rerouted until the roadway was cleared at 11:25 p.m. Impairment is suspected in this crash.
