Tickets are on sale for the Carson Rotary Club’s Mardi Gras Celebration. The event takes place Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Casino Fandango’s Grand Ballroom.
The party features festive Cajun and Creole cuisine, dancing to the Catahoula Mardi Gras Band, as well as a raffle and silent auction. Mardi Gras costumes are encouraged as there are prizes for the best. All proceeds benefit Carson Rotary’s youth and scholarship programs.
“The Carson Rotary is very proud to help up to four people a year complete their educational goals. We are able to offer scholarships to people who aren’t always able to get more traditional help, such as single parents returning to school and new citizens,” said event organizer Joe Lushina. “The Mardi Gras Celebration allows the community to help us with that effort and have fun at the same time.”
Proceeds will also help send eight local high school juniors to the Rotary Youth Leadership camp. Lushina says the weeklong camp is part of Rotary’s philosophy of developing future leaders.
“The kids rave about their experience and tell us it has a significant positive impact on their lives. They learn about leadership and the importance of service to their community, all part of Rotary’s core values.”
Tickets are $100 and available at carsonrotary.org or from any Carson Rotary member.
