Carson Valley Men’s Club Results
The Carson Valley Men’s Golf Club held a tournament for 4-man teams with three best balls on each hole. The team of Marc Menezes, David Whitman, Bob Buker and Bill King won with a net score of 206.
Second place was taken by Mel Ness, Fred Coons, Chris Willing and David Thorne with a net score of 210. Augie Martinez, Mike Davis, Ken Iacuaniello and Larry Rutledge took third place with a score of 211 while Matt Budjako, Frank Ramirez, Paul Lockwood and Roger Hala took fourth place with 212.
The closest to the pin contest was won by Charles Poe on Hole No. 1, David Thorne on Hole No. 17 and Jesus Rey on Hole No. 18.
Eric Hoyle Shoots Low at Silver Oak
Eric Hoyle fired a one-over par 72 for the low gross score at the Sunday Men’s Club monthly masters tournament May 5 at Silver Oak Golf Course.
The low net (after handicap is applied) top finishers in the first flight were Ben Gelbaum and Hoyle tied with 65, followed by Wes Camp with 68. Dennis Baughman, Joe Glazner, Eric Schaub and Frank Maricich were tied for fourth with 70.
In the second flight (players with higher handicaps), Paul Jorgensen shot the low net 63. Behind him were William Kapczynski and Dennis Klenczar tied with 66. Alex Talmant was fourth with 68.
In the third flight, Rick Crawford led the way with a low net 64, followed by Eric Moormann with 66. Gary Helseth and Ron Tamori tied for third with 71.
The Sunday Men’s Club season runs every Sunday through Oct. 27 at Silver Oak Golf Course and features weekly games with three flights based on handicap and optional gross and net skins games.
Golfers may stop by the golf shop to pick up an application or visit www.silveroakgolf.com to print out and mail an entry. Members of the men’s club receive reduced green fees, range balls every Sunday, Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) service for the year, lunches and awards banquet, prizes, trophies, and access to a web portal to view events and scores each week.
Raiders membership drive barbecue Saturday
Raiders fans are welcome to join Nevada Raider Nation — Carson City Chapter, for a membership drive barbecue Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Espolon Grill y Tequileria in Mound House.
Members get together for each game to discuss players, trades, coaching staff and future events. Members are well-versed in history and the dynamics of the game and welcome all die-hard fans to join and attend.
Espolon will offer food and drink specials on Saturday; drawings will be held each hour for Raiders collectible items. Tickets will be sold 6 for $5.
Membership fee to join the club is $20 per person.
The club hosts game watches for prime-time games (Monday and Thursday nights) at Espolon, 10115 Highway 50 East, with food and drink specials, and children are welcome.
Sunday games are watched at Jimmy G’s in Carson City.
