Genoa, Nev. — A Douglas man in his 70s was reported to be the 11th county death connected with the coronavirus outbreak, according to emergency managers. With 27 new cases and 19 recoveries, the county is at 946 active cases and 706 recoveries, according to Carson City Health and Human Services.
On Thursday, county commissioners voted 3-2 for the Buckeye Farms specific plan and spending $1.1 million for final design of Muller Lane Parkway and. Estimates are two lanes of the parkway will cost $12.4 million to build.
Congratulations to Amy Poole who becomes Douglas County’s 10th Clerk-Treasurer at 5:01 p.m. today. Commissioners lauded Poole, who works for the county as administrative assistant to the board. Under state law, there’s no requirement to conduct a search for an elected official. Poole will face election in 2022.
There’s a vehicle accident at northbound Highway 395 and Mica Drive from 3 a.m. today still on the NHP website. While listed as property damage, the length of time indicates that it might be more than your usual fender bender. Keep an eye out through there.
Both Eastside Memorial in Minden and Garden Cemetery in Gardnerville are placing wreaths on the graves of veterans 9 a.m. Saturday.
Also on Saturday, Topaz Ranch Estates residents will conduct an informal parade of lights. Participants should line up at the community center at 4:30 p.m. and they’ll roll out at 5.
The weekend weather looks like it will be nice with sunny skies and highs climbing into the 50s. Unless Santa’s got another storm hiding in his bag, there won’t be much snow in the Valley for Christmas.
Today expect a high temperature of 43 degrees with a light southerly breeze until later this morning and then calm.
