Minden will go from posting a new record high temperature for Nov. 6 to flirting with record low temperatures on Sunday and Monday.

According to National Weather Service Records, the high temperature of 75 degrees recorded at Minden was a new high temperature.

Records have been kept at the Douglas county seat since 1906, when the town of Minden was founded.

The record low for Nov. 8 was 9 degrees set 1948, while the record low for Nov. 9 is 8 degrees set in 1946. The forecast for early Monday morning calls for a low temperature of 10 degrees.

A cold front brought gusty winds to Carson Valley on Friday, with a peak wind gust of 44 mph at Minden-Tahoe Airport. High winds knocked down a few trees.

Firefighters were called to a Lyell Way address in the Gardnerville Ranchos twice for reports that a tree had fallen into utility lines.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Western Nevada, including Carson Valley, from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Snow levels will drop to the Valley floor with a chance of 1-4 inches falling.

Because of this week’s record warmth, conditions are ripe for lake-effect snows off Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake. Areas downwind from the lakes could see up to 7 inches.
