Genoa, Nev. — While not the highest turnout in Douglas history, the 86.71-percent turnout for the 2020 Election is the highest in the state, according to the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office. Lincoln County came in second with 84.86 percent. Commissioners are scheduled to canvass the vote on Monday.
By my count, today is the deadline for those 115 people whose mailed ballot required a signature cure. The Clerk’s Office attempted to contact everyone on the list. You can check whether your ballot was accepted at govotedouglas.com.
It was a fairly quiet Veterans Day on Wednesday. Laurie Hickey led a small group around Garden Cemetery for that tour of veterans’ final resting places.

A wind advisory takes effect 10 a.m. Friday and is expected to bring up to 55 mph gusts to Western Nevada. We could see some blowing snow from the storm and rough lake conditions on Tahoe. There’s also a chance of rain on Friday with the snow level well above the Valley floor.
Today expect mostly sunny skies and a high near 51 degrees. The wind will be out of the east at 5 mph, shifting to the southwest this afternoon.
