Long time Carson Valley resident Tim Cohee, former President of Kirkwood and since 2010 owner of China Peak Mountain Resort in Central California has ended the 2020 triathlon campaign with the number one ranking among men ages 65-69.
The season was shortened due to COVID-19, which eliminated both the U.S. and World Age Group Championships, as well as the XTERRA World Championships in Hawaii. Cohee would have been among the favorites to win at all three events.
Entering his first race in 1984, Cohee has competed in over 250 triathlons, and has been joined in the last decade by four of his sons, Chase, Nick, Troy and Tristan. All four have been competitive in their respective age groups, including several podium results.
Over the senior Cohee's 37 year career he has won over 100 races, including finishing 2nd in the 2016 World Age Group Triathlon Championships in Mexico, and a 3rd place finish at the U.S. Nationals.
He has added XTERRA off road triathlons to his list of top events for 2021, where he will campaign on both the national and world age group level.
Cohee has resided with his wife Anita and five sons in the Carson Valley since 1995. Four of his sons were alpine ski racers, with his son Nick earning a bronze medal at the 2015 U.S. Nationals and a top 60 world ranking in the Giant Slalom. He is the most accomplished ski racer from the Kirkwood Ski Education Foundation in the team's history. He is currently a coach at the Sugar Bowl Academy.
Cohee's two younger sons Troy and Tristan are members of his management team at China Peak, and son Chase also a coach at Sugar Bowl Resort and top big mountain skier. Taylor, the Cohee's oldest son is a successful real estate developer in Reno.
The Cohee's welcomed their third grand child, Mac, in September. He can be found most early mornings enjoying a swim workout with friends at his favorite pool, the Carson Valley Swim Center.
