Genoa, Nev. — Today’s windstorm is a tad delayed with a high wind warning kicking off at 10 a.m. and lasting through 7 p.m. Expect southwest winds 20-30 mph gusting to up to 55 mph, so save often. The evening commute may also come with a little rain.
A flood awareness event scheduled for today has been cancelled due to the rise of coronavirus cases in the region.
Health officials report Douglas has 37 active cases of coronavirus, with 454 recoveries and two deaths. The prison cases have blown up Carson City’s total to 585 active cases. Douglas had seven new cases on Monday and eight recoveries.
Douglas County planning commissioners are meeting virtually 1 p.m. today to wrap up their work on the master plan update and recommend approval of the document to the county commission. To participate, visit www.douglascountynv.gov and click on agendas and meetings.
The master plan train has been at this station before, specifically on Oct. 10, 2017, when planning commissioners approved the master plan update. Three months later, county commissioners postponed the update and the county didn’t take it back up for more than a year.
Rain is likely today after 5 p.m. in the Valley. Expect the snow level to hit 7,000 feet before it drops tonight to 6,700 feet. We could see around .4 inches of precipitation from this storm.
