Genoa, Nev. — About 400 people were evacuated from northern Mono County as a result of the Mountain View Fire. A map showing the structures destroyed in the is online at https://mountain-view-fire-incident-monomammoth.hub.arcgis.com The evacuations have been lifted and Highway 395 is open.

The size of the fire was revised downward back to the 21,000 acres reported on Tuesday morning. As of last night, the fire was smoldering and creeping. Firefighters have a line around a fifth of the blaze.

If you want to skip the nearly 24 hours of master plan hearings and cut to the chase, county commissioners are hearing a virtual report 1 p.m. today on the planning commission’s work. The county is still seeking public comment before commissioners take up the plan Dec. 9-11.

There’s also a request to approve a $16.5 Nevada Safe Drinking Water loan for the $18 million Cave Rock waterline replacement project. For more information on how to participate or to watch the meeting visit douglascountynv.gov and click agendas and minutes.

Snow telemetry reports there’s about 20 inches of snow on the ground at Heavenly Valley as of midnight. There are 19 inches at Carson Pass, while there are 23 inches at Ebbetts Pass.

Today is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high temperature near 49 degrees. The northeast wind will pick up at 5-10 mph this afternoon. The next precipitation may arrive on Monday.
