Two California men who were found in possession of four catalytic converters are scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court on April 28.

Broderick Allen Johnston, 26, and Nathaniel Anthony Corona, 23, were arrested April 19 after deputies received a report that one of the men had taken a key from a golf cart at Silver City RV Park.

They left in a U-Haul pickup and were pulled over a short time later.

During a search of their vehicle, deputies allegedly found the converters, a Sawzall and blades, a torch and bolt cutters, along with a bag of methamphetamine.

Deputies said the converters are worth $1,000 apiece.

Allstate.com reports that the converters are a popular target for thieves, especially those in vehicles with a high clearance that are easy to get under. The converters contain precious metals that thieves sell to recyclers.
