of Commissioners
INTRODUCED the
following ordinance:
ORDINANCE:
2021-1588
TITLE: Ordinance
2021-1588, an
ordinance amending
provisions of Chapter
20.622 of the Douglas
County Code to
eliminate the creation
of a private cause of
action for a violation
of Chapter 20.622,
clarifying sections of
the Vacation Home
Rental program
including the setting
of the occupancy
limit at two persons
per bedroom, the
appeal process, the
composition of the
Vacation Home Rental
Advisory Board,
and the process for
conducting safety
inspections.
SUMMARY:
Ordinance 2021-
1588, an ordinance
amending provisions
of Chapter 20.622 of
the Douglas County
Code to eliminate
a private cause of
action for the violation
of Chapter 20.622,
clarify sections of the
Vacation Home Rental
program including the
setting the occupancy
limit at two persons
per bedroom, clarifying
that inspections of a
VHR residence will
occur with at least 24
hours’ advance notice,
clarifying that fines
are up to the stated
amounts, clarifying
that appeals from the
VHR Advisory Board
may be brought to
the Board of County
Commissioners,
and changing the
composition of the
Vacation Home Rental
Advisory Board to
include two VHR permit
holders, two non-permit
holders at Lake Tahoe,
and one member of the
Carson Valley.
The 2nd Reading of
this Ordinance will be
held on 9/2/2021

ordinance is on file in
the Clerk’s Office for
public review.
