Request for Applicants
Due to changes to Ordinance 2021-1588, the Douglas County Board of
Commissioners is currently accepting applications for appointments to the following
advisory board:
Vacation Home Rental (VHR) Advisory Board
The function of the VHR Advisory Board shall be to hear
enforcement appeals filed by VHR owners, consider applications
for VHR special use permits for Tier three (3) VHR rentals, and
to render advice to the Board of County Commissioners on
proposed changes to the program. Applicants must be Douglas
County residents.
The board shall be comprised of:
• Two (2) Residents of the Tahoe Township that are current
VHR permit holders;
• Two (2) Residents of the Tahoe Township that are not current
VHR permit holders;
• One (1) Resident of the East Fork Township (all other county residents
that do not reside in Lake Tahoe)
If there are insufficient applications to the VHR Advisory Board to fill any class of
members, then the Board of County Commissioners may appoint any registered
voter in Douglas County to fill any vacant positions. For the purpose of defining
“resident,” the member’s principal residence is within the relevant Township and
physically resides at the residence for at least six months during a calendar year.
No member may be appointed who has expressed opposition to the VHR program
or otherwise appears to have a bias that may improperly influence their impartiality
as a member of the VHR Advisory Board.

Application Deadline: Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 5 PM.
(Appointment will be made at a Douglas County Commissioner’s Meeting,
Thursday, September 2, 2021.)
