A half-dozen firefighters were flown in to extinguish a fire started by a lightning strike, one of two from a thunderstorm that brought high winds to Carson Valley.

The Fay fire was listed at under an acre by the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch as of Saturday morning. Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze through the night, according to the Humboldt-Toiyabe Forest. The Horsethief Fire was less than a tenth of an acre in size and was 65 percent contained at 6 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters hope to have the blaze contained this morning.
