An evacuation order for the Caldor Fire has been extended east from Twin Bridges to Echo Summit and from Highway 50 south to the Alpine County line, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office has issued the following evacuation warnings:
• Christmas Valley from Highway 89 west to Echo Summit
• Highway 89 due west to Watershed Ridge and south to the Amador/El Dorado County line
Road Closures:
• The Highway 50 closure has been extended east to Meyers (Highway 50 and Highway 89 junction). Residents evacuating the area between Twin Bridges and Echo Summit should use Highway 50 east.
Evacuation Shelter: Nevada
• A Red Cross Shelter is open for those evacuating from the area at the Douglas County Community Center, 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville.
No other location in the Lake Tahoe Basin is under either an evacuation order or warning, the sheriff’s office said.
As of Thursday morning, the fire has grown to 136,643 acres and has claimed 465 homes.
The fire burned through the night, according to the most recent report.
