Genoa, Nev. — Replacement of the culvert where the Winkleman Ditch crosses Kimmerling Road will be up for discussion 4 p.m. today at the Douglas County Water Conveyance Committee. The culvert work had Kimmerling closed last week.

The Ditch Committee is also scheduled to hear an update on Muller Lane Parkway and the Martin Slough Trail today. They meet on the third floor of the Minden Inn, but you can watch virtually by sending a note to planning@douglasnv.us before 2 p.m. today to get the Zoom info.

Douglas Disposal workers will be picking up donations for the Carson Valley Community Food Closet as they make their rounds through the county this week. Put out a sealed bag next to your trash can on your regular trash day or drop off the donation at their Minden office, especially if you’ve got bears in the neighborhood. The Share Your Holiday Drive-by Food Drive is 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Carson Valley Inn.

It might actually rain today with odds starting at 30 percent at 1 p.m. increasing to 50-50 early Tuesday morning. The snow level will drop to around 6,800 feet, so watch out going over Kingsbury on Tuesday’s morning commute.

Even if the forecast holds through the week, we’re not looking at significant moisture totals, with not quite a tenth of an inch with this first storm and maybe a quarter inch Wednesday and Thursday. But it will get colder and that could bring some of that moisture as around an inch of snow in the Valley.

Today expect mostly cloudy skies with the rain arriving after lunchtime. The high is anticipated to reach 61 degrees with the wind out of the southeast 5-10 mph shifting west as the front arrives.

I’m apparently in a hurry to see 2021 gone, so there might be some stray 2022s showing up in places. Both the bad and good thing about those errors is that they’re pretty obvious.
