Update: Due to forecast flash freezing this morning, the Nevada Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Safety are reporting dangerous road conditions in Carson City, Washoe County and Douglas County.
Gov. Steve Sisolak has ordered two-hour delay for all state government offices (other than essential public safety and corrections personnel) in these areas for this morning. State government offices in these areas to open at 10 a.m. today.
"The state will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions. The safety and well-being of the state’s employees are of the utmost concern."

As of 4:30 a.m., both nvroads.com traffic cameras on Kingsbury Grade at are show flying snow that appears to be sticking to the roads. Lake Tahoe schools are delayed 90 minutes today. Students will be picked p at the main bus stops. Those living in the Chimney Rock area will be picked up and dropped off at Kahle Community Center. All schools in Carson Valley are open on their regular schedule.
A winter weather advisory for Carson Valley is in effect until 10 a.m. A winter storm warning remains in effect at Lake Tahoe until 10 a.m.
For the first time in a couple of days, Highway 395 through Carson Valley is off the list of road controls, which start at Jake’s Hill into the Pine Nuts.
A traffic camera at Double Spring Flat shows snow falling as the storm that arrived in the Sierra on Wednesday night begins to move east and south.
Road controls are in effect from Minden to the Nevada state line early this morning, but most Valley locations are showing wet blacktop as temperatures remained slightly above freezing.
The automated weather system at Minden-Tahoe Airport showed temperatures were warmer at 4:35 a.m. than they were at lunchtime on Wednesday. The airport reported 36 degrees this morning compared to 30 degrees at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday.
That warming trend kept most of the precipitation in Carson Valley as rain, though a blast of cold air could change that as the morning continues.
“Generally improving conditions and diminishing snow showers will move into the Sierra and Western Nevada as the weakening cold front continues to press farther east into the Great Basin,” National Weather Service Meteorologist Amanda Young said on Thursday morning.
On the other side of the storm, high pressure will bring colder temperatures into Western Nevada with highs in the upper 30s forecast for Carson Valley.
A new storm is forecast to bring mountain snow and rain or snow to the Western Nevada valleys in the days leading up to Christmas Eve.
