Genoa, Nev. —The U.S. Forest Service plans to wrap up burning above Genoa Cemetery today since the snow is melting off pretty quickly. Officials estimate they have 5-8 acres of piles still in the snow.
The Valley is not the only place where the snow is melting off. The big storm at the end of January sent the snow depth at Carson Pass soaring like a Reddit stock pick, nearly tripling to 7 feet. Today it’s back down to 5 feet, 3 inches. There’s still a lot of moisture locked up in the snowpack.
The Nevada Highway Patrol reported a traffic hazard at Foothill Road and Kingsbury Grade around 5:15 a.m. It was cleared by 6:10 a.m.
The county’s web site at douglascountynv.gov is still down. I was able to watch the commission meeting from the YouTube link last Thursday while the site was down. According to the county, it’s the external provider, and they’re working on it.
We had a brief similar outage on Saturday morning. I was actually working in the site when it went down. It was back up within an hour.
The Buccaneers’ 31-9 victory over the 3.5-point favorite Chiefs may have some implications for the betting win. We’ll hear from the Gaming Control Board today or Tuesday about how that all turned out.
The forecast today calls for mostly cloudy skies and a high near 55 degrees as a small front is expected to roll in tonight. Something bigger might be on the horizon for Thursday, but don’t get attached.
