Douglas County is implementing Zoom meetings.
With the relaxing of requirements imposed as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, Zoom may also described how long county commissioners will continue meeting virtually.At today's meeting, commissioners will start using the ubiquitous program to conduct business.The Douglas County School Board of Trustees have been meeting using Zoom since March.County Spokeswoman Melissa Blosser said those who choose to participate and provide public comment via Zoom will need to register in advance with the Zoom Webinar feature. The Webinar feature accommodates engagement with larger audiences and is effective in helping prevent uninvited users from accessing the session.
Those who are watching via YouTube should continue to have access, Blosser said Thursday.
The process for providing public comment is available through three formats: via Zoom Webinar, by phone or written comment. The following is a guide outlining instructions for each format.
- 1. Register in advance with the Zoom Webinar feature by clicking on the meeting portal, http://douglascountynv.iqm2.com/Citizens/Default.aspx
- 2. Click ‘agenda’ for the BOCC meeting you would like to make public comment during.
- 3. Click on the link found on the first page of the meeting agenda to register (the link is different for each meeting)
- 4. You will receive an email confirmation with meeting access information.
- 1. Call (775) 782-9821 to obtain the meeting phone number, meeting ID and passcode (the meeting ID and passcode is different for each meeting)
- 2. Participants who call-in will be muted until it is time for public comment, a moderator will then unmute callers one at a time for public comment.
- Click on the following link to take you to the online public form found on the County’s website, https://www.douglascountynv.gov/government/board_of_county_commissioners/public_comment
- Type into each line of the online form.
- Click on submit.
- 1. In your email please include: the date of the board meeting you are referencing, your full name, and the agenda topic you are commenting on.
- 2. Attach comment.
- 3. Send email to boccpubliccomment@douglasnv.us
- 1. Pick-up a blank public comment form from the County Manager’s office located at the Minden Inn at 1594 Esmeralda Avenue in Minden.
- 2. Once you’ve filled it out, turn it into the County Manager’s office.
- 1. Mail your public comment to the Douglas County Manager’s Office at Post Office Box 218, Minden, Nevada 89423.
- 2. Public comment that is mailed in must be received no later than the day of the board meeting to be added to the record.
