Genoa, Nev. — Holbrook Junction saw some flooding from Wednesday’s thunderstorms, where the National Weather Service is saying the radar showed 1.25-2 inches of rain between 5-6 p.m. The odds for scattered thunderstorms after 5 p.m. today are 50-50 at any given spot.

Douglas County’s building permit allocations have been gathering like lint in a dryer over the past 14 years with slightly more than 2,000 lying about now. Of those 1,452 are allocated to individuals while 584 are for projects as of May 31. County commissioners are scheduled to hear a report today in preparation for maybe cleaning that lint trap out a smidge.

Residents will be able to watch today’s commissioner meeting online, but if they want to speak at the meeting they’ll have to go to Minden. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse. Go to douglascountynv.gov, if you want to watch from home.

We’re looking at increasing clouds today with a high temperature near 94 degrees with the wind out of the southwest at 5-10 mph, shifting east in the afternoon. Expect strong outflow winds near thunderstorms and find cover if you’re caught in one.
