Firefighters are en route to what appears to be a lightning started fire burning above Johnson Lane in the Pine Nut foothills.
The Juniper fire was reported around 2:15 p.m. after an electrical storm passed over Carson Valley.
Firefighters said the fire was burning two trees and had a low rate of spread with no wind, which should give them a chance to douse it.
The storm brought some rain with it, which may slow down the fire.
Heavy rain in Gardnerville and Minden. About a half-dozen lightning strikes hit around town, with one near the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville.
Radar shows the storm is moving off toward the Sierra
