Genoa, Nev. — Another power outage hit around 4:30 a.m. today affecting 125 NVEnergy customers around Minden after three-hour outage last night that at one point affected 2,743 customers from Carson Valley south to Markleeville. No cause was listed for that outage, but the heat would be a good bet.

Minden cracked 97 degrees on Sunday, which was a degree short of the forecast. Today’s forecast is for a high temperature of 100 degrees. There’s an off chance we might see some thunderstorms this afternoon.

I’m following up on Saturday evening’s fatal collision on Highway 88 near the East Fork bridge, as well as a single vehicle rollover on Highway 50 Saturday morning, and someone was rescued from Topaz Lake on Sunday afternoon.

The Douglas County Audit Committee meets 1 p.m. today at the historic courthouse to review a stack of updates to the county’s purchasing policies. County commissioners will get their turn on Thursday.

The heat advisory is in place through Wednesday night and there’s a fire weather watch for thunderstorms on Tuesday, which are forecast to bring dry lightning.
