A Gardnerville Ranchos man is facing a probation violation and a felony domestic battery charge stemming from a Sunday evening arrest.
James Arlin Lucas, 49, was arrested after deputies responded to his Dresslerville Lane address after a woman reported being backhanded and pushed during an altercation.
According to East Fork Justice Court documents, Lucas denied battering the woman. The report came in at 6:12 p.m.
Lucas was on probation out of California in connection with a 2015 felony. Court documents indicated he’d been arrested 13 times for domestic abuse.
East Fork Justice of the Peace Cassandra Jones set his bail at $100,000 on Monday and appointed attorney Brian Filter to represent him.
He was scheduled to return to court on Wednesday.
• A Gardnerville woman, who ran out of the courthouse on Feb. 1, is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court on Monday.
Sally Joy Seagren, 58, is was taken into custody on March 12 after nearly six weeks on the run.
Seagren is facing up to 2-15 years in prison at her sentencing on a subsequent felony DUI.
When she appears before the court, she will need a new lawyer after David Houston was granted leave to withdraw, saying she refused to communicate with him.
Seagren admitted to the instance of driving under the influence in connection with a July 2019 collision in the Gardnerville Ranchos where she’d dropped her license while walking to a nearby bar.
