Genoa, Nev. — Road controls are in effect on Highway 395 from just south of Pine View Estates to Bridgeport, in addition to Kingsbury and Spooner heading into Lake Tahoe. The traffic camera at Double Spring Flat south of Gardnerville is showing actual snow.


A jackknifed semi is hanging over the edge of Conway Summit, blocking a couple of lanes of Highway 395 this side of Mono Lake. No one was hurt in the 3:47 a.m. wreck.


A proposal to increase the 911 surcharge fee on phones from 75 cents to $1 to help pay for the Sheriff’s Office body camera program is up for discussion at the 911 Surcharge Advisory Committee 10 a.m. today. To find out how to listen or participate go to douglascountynv.gov and click on agendas.


An agricultural burn behind the medical complex at Minden’s entrance drew a couple of 911 calls on Monday afternoon. It was generally a busy day for emergency services.


Douglas remains the only county on the state watch list with a case positivity rate of 9.4 percent. Whatever that odd bump in active coronavirus cases was last week seems to have flattened over the weekend, with only four new cases and 50 recoveries, so hopefully that ship is righting itself.


My story on Lary the Mosquito Fighting Drone included an error that I should have caught on the front end. Lary can treat 5 acres of larvacide in 2 minutes and 31 seconds, not 2.31 seconds. Lary’s fast, but not that fast.


Whatever weather is left over this morning is expected to clear out before 8 a.m. today. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 46 degrees, with the wind out of the northeast at 10-20 mph gusting to 30 mph.
