Starting May 1, the Minden branch of the Douglas County Public Library will be open to the public 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Saturdays.

The Lake Tahoe Branch will continue to be open on 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Curbside pickup will also be available at both libraries: Minden 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and Lake Tahoe 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. The Bookmobile will be at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center on Wednesdays and Fridays; additional routes and hours will be announced soon.

“The librarians and staff are excited to restore hours of operation and offer the resources and programs our patrons love.” Librarian Amy Dodson said.

Patrons will have full access to the entire physical collection in each of the libraries. Copiers and fax machines will be available for use. The public computer stations will be available, with social distancing measures. The Douglas County Law Library, which is housed within the main library in Minden, is available for public research, and Westlaw is accessible upon request. Meeting Rooms at both libraries will become available for public use on June 1.

Library staff will continue to provide contact-less assistance to patrons, both inside the library and curbside. The public can request curbside pick-up through the library’s online catalog: catalog.douglas.lib.nv.us, via email info@douglas.lib.nv.usor by calling the Minden library at 775-782-9841 and the Lake Tahoe Branch at 775-588-6411 during hours of operation. Patrons are invited to take advantage of the library’s online resources and downloadable content available through the library’s website: library.douglascountynv.gov.

At all times, library patrons and staff are required to wear masks/face coverings, and maintain 6 feet of physical distance. High-contact surfaces in public areas – such as front desks, door handles, computer keyboards and mice – will be sanitized throughout the day. Acrylic barriers will remain in place at front desks.

Special library events and programs will begin again after May 1. The Summer Reading Program will be held June 5-July 31. The library will continue to provide interactive content on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

The Minden Library is located at 1625 Library Lane. The Zephyr Cove Library is located at 233 Warrior Way. Connect with the Douglas County Public Library on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and at library.douglascountynv.gov.
