Genoa, Nev. — A possible recommendation to have county commissioners review ABS Aviation’s contract to manage Minden-Tahoe Airport goes before the Airport Advisory Committee 5:30 p.m. today. East Fork conducted their 40th anniversary celebration on a drizzly Saturday morning in the Sunridge Fire Station. Most of it was indoors, and it was good to see a lot of folks in person for the first time in more than a year.
I heard there was another wreck near Spooner Junction around 5 p.m. Sunday. That’s two in two weekends, which is concerning. I don’t know if anyone was transported from Sunday’s collision, but I’m seeing what I can find out.
I won’t see the latest coronavirus numbers until this evening, but as of this morning Douglas continues to be flagged only for its case rate of 243 per 100,000. There aren’t 100,000 people living in Douglas so if you halve both those numbers you get a fair idea of the number of cases over the past 30 days.
There are eight days left in the school year, and coincidentally, eight days left in the Nevada Legislature. School Board trustees are scheduled to meet on Friday to finalize the budget, which means they might have some more information on what the Legislature has in store for them.
Eastside Memorial Park is hosting a Memorial Day observance 11 a.m. May 31 at the cemetery, 1600 Buckeye Road, in Minden. Chapter 7 of the Disabled American Veterans is seeking help to place more than 1,700 flags on the graves of veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City. Muster is 4 p.m. Friday.
The weekend’s rain almost brought Minden up to average for the month, with .42 inches recorded out of the .47 inches average. May is not a typically wet month in Douglas County, but it has provided some moisture that will certainly help.
The forecast calls for increasing clouds with a high around 76 degrees. The wind will pick up out of the west at 15-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph. There’s no precipitation in the forecast.
