Genoa, Nev. — On Tuesday, the Nevada Assembly concurred with an amendment apparently designed to silence the Minden siren. Assembly Bill 88 passed the Senate on May 20 with the amendment. It was sent to enrollment, which is typically one of the last steps before it is sent to the governor.


A handful of Douglas County Black Lives Matter activists literally shined a light on the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center around 9 p.m. Tuesday night in observance of the anniversary of George Floyd’s death.


There might actually be some information from the Legislature for the Douglas County School Board to discuss when they meet on the budget on Friday. The Nevada Appeal reported that the K-12 education budget cleared the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday.


The Main Street Farmers Market conducted by Sierra Chef is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in Gardnerville’s Heritage Park.


The super blood moon was worth getting up for this morning, though it required a better photographer than I to capture. More interesting though were several photos I got from Valley residents of the moon shining through a lenticular wave cloud on Monday night.


Next week could open with the first 90-degree day of 2021. It’s got a ways to go first, though with today’s high hitting 78 degrees under sunny skies and the low around 40. I’m putting out my tomatoes this weekend. Hopefully the weather will have mercy on them.
