Genoa, Nev. — Rep. Mark Amodei is likely the only Republican in Nevada who had to announce he’s not running for governor. That came in at 5:52 a.m. today, so it’s still fresh. We expect to hear the congressman’s plans on seeking re-election after redistricting’s done.

There were some Halloween shenanigans over the weekend including a couple taking the apron off the Lillian Virgin Finnegan statue in Genoa. They folded it up and left it at the Sierra Chef doorstep for some reason. That statue is under video surveillance, so I would suggest leaving it be unless you want your picture taken. Sierra Chef doesn't have anything to do with the statue or its decoration.

Someone has been setting fire to toilet paper in the Gardnerville Ranchos public park restrooms. First responders have made a couple of trips out there. Knock it off.

Trick or Treat Street was well attended when I went through on Sunday. The Sheriff’s Office did a great job with the maze. I even got a little dizzy through the rotating walkway.

We might see a little rain today with the snow level rising to 8,500 feet this afternoon. Expect mostly cloudy skies with a high temperature around 59 degrees. The wind will be out of the east at 5-10 mph shifting to the southwest this afternoon.
