Genoa, Nev. — Minden’s moving forward with a park at the Seeman Pond, despite having the bid come in at twice the amount of money they set aside for it. After jettisoning the dog park, for now, and deciding to delay work on Bougainvillea, they came up with just over $1 million.


Douglas County commissioners are scheduled to hear a report from the U.S. Geological Survey regarding nitrates in the aquifer. Past reports have centered around Johnson Lane and Ruhenstroth where most of the early development included septic tanks.


Commissioners meet 1 p.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden. First reading of zone change for a metal recycling plant and a storage unit proposal off Buckeye Road are among the items on the agenda. At least one person was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center via East Fork ambulance from a reported rollover on Stephanie Way on the jog west of Vicki around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. Medics waved off CareFlight.


I’ve been gathering Veterans Day information for Saturday’s edition and to figure out the coverage for next week. I’m adding to the story I have online, so if you have something that’s not there already, send me a note. We’ve got until around 9 a.m. Friday to get stuff in print before Wednesday.


It’s fairly blustery out this morning with gusts of 31 mph out of the south at Minden-Tahoe Airport as a front passes north of us this morning.


The forecast calls for the wind to die down as the day progresses to 10-15 mph out of the southwest. It’s warm out too, at 59 degrees at 4:55 a.m. The high today is forecast to hit 65 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
