The Nov. 15, 2021, R-C Morning Report

A little color at daybreak in Carson Valley on Monday morning. There might be some precipitation in the works for later in the week, but for now, it's just the wind.

Genoa, Nev. — The Nevada Assembly is expected to convene 1 p.m. today to continue redistricting that began on Friday, while the Senate will be back in session 10 a.m. Tuesday. There are only two bills, both of which passed out of their houses of origin on Sunday. You can find out more at www.leg.state.nv.us

I received a statement from the Douglas County School District on Sunday regarding an open meeting law complaint filed last week over the school board’s action on critical race theory, which essentially said that if it’s determined there was a violation, they’ll fix it. That usually entails re-hearing the item.

Firefighters have been going back out to Bosler Way to check on that fire every day over the weekend. Reported as a controlled burn that got loose, fortunately there wasn’t a significant breeze to spread the fire.

On Sunday morning, a furnace went out at a Foothill residence. While woodstoves and fireplaces are obvious hazards as they’re on fire, and all, it’s a good idea to get your furnace checked out before the weather gets too gnarly.

It was beautiful out over the weekend, with Saturday recording a high temperature of 73 degrees, only 2 degrees off the record set in 1999. I actually found a flower blooming in one of my planters on Sunday afternoon, which wasn’t quite as warm as predicted.

A lake wind advisory is in effect for Lake Tahoe starting around noon with gusts of up to 35 mph and 1-3-foot waves. Sunrise this morning had all the colors, though don’t expect any precipitation this side of Susanville.

Expect mostly cloudy skies today with a high near 70 degrees and the wind out of the southwest at 10-15 mph gusting to 30 mph this afternoon.
