South Lake city councilman arrested in DUI

Information about the Sept. 25 arrest of a South Lake Tahoe city councilman was released on Wednesday.

The city issued a release containing the arrest report for Cody Lee Bass, 40, who was stopped in Meyers at around 3 a.m.

According to the report, firefighters reported an extremely intoxicated driver stopped on Highway 50 near Twin Bridges at 2:25 a.m.

A Tesla with the license plate YDOC continued east on 50 until it was stopped by the California Highway Patrol at the Meyers Agricultural Station.

Byers allegedly showed sings of obvious intoxication and was taken into custody after CHP officers completed their investigation.

According to the report, Bass had white powder resembling cocaine and a crystalline substance resembling cocaine.

Bass, who owns Tahoe Wellness Center, made bail. He is serving his first term on the city council.

Bass also resolved a case Oct. 1 where he was accused of failing to file his tax returns, according to Southtahoenow.com

Under the agreement, he will have to pay $136,508 in restitution, according to the website.
