Genoa, Nev. — Drive-through flu vaccine clinics are 9 a.m. to noon today at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center in Gardnerville and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today in Woodfords for Alpine County residents.

Planning commissioners approved a 26,200-square-foot industrial recycling center located across Heybourne from Minden-Tahoe Airport south of Airport Road. They also recommended a commercial subdivision map to commissioners off Buckeye on Park Ranch Holdings land.
Due to increased moisture and cooler temperatures, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is lifting fire restrictions effective 5 p.m. today. You still need a permit for a portable stove in California, and some common sense around the campfire.
Much of that moisture was sucked out of Lake Tahoe, according to researchers at the UC Davis Tahoe Research Center. Lake Tahoe dropped below the natural rim at 9 a.m. Tuesday, as high winds increased Lake to 1.2 inches in 36 hours, or 4-6 billion gallons.
Today is forecast to be a cool sunny autumn day with a high temperature of 60 degrees and the afternoon wind out of the northwest 5-10 mph, gusting to 20 mph. Overnight temperatures are pinned in the 20s over the next week or so.
