Genoa, Nev. — A landslide on Jobs Peak sent up a cloud of fine white dust around 2:30 p.m. that prompted concerns there was a fire. Resident Charles Voss caught a picture and said they heard it.
The Nevada Seismology Lab doesn’t show an earthquake around there for a while, so my guess is that the sudden moisture after a long dry spell may have set off the slide, or a particularly large bear.

Rex’s Exes will be shaking up the CVIC Hall for its opening night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door. The show is this weekend and next with evening shows Friday and Saturday and a 2 p.m. matinee.
East Fork firefighters responded to a report of a commercial fire in a two-story building on Business Parkway around 11:45 a.m. Thurday that resulted in the building’s evacuation. The dust collector caught fire and was quickly extinguished.

There might be a little weather in the cards for Sunday night with a chance of gusty winds 35-45 mph bringing rain and snow showers which could see snow levels dropping to around 5,600 feet by Monday morning. Forecasters are predicting trace to a couple of inches on the higher Sierra passes.
Today expect sunny skies and a high temperature near 69 degrees and the wind out of the north at 5 mph, which will continue through Saturday, with the wind picking up on Sunday afternoon.
