Genoa, Nev. — A new self-storage business located south of town returns to Gardnerville for major design review with some changes to fix the issues that prompted its denial back in November. Town Board members will also discuss a special use permit for a pet crematory on Industrial. They meet 4:30 p.m. today at the town hall, 1407 Main St.
With Interim Director Julia Brown leaving in 10 days and the process to hire a new director still in progress, Douglas County Library Board Trustees will discuss getting some help from Human Resources. That will take the form of Senior Analyst Christine Vido, who is offering to serve as interim director. Trustees meet 10 a.m. today at the Minden Branch, 1625 Library Lane in Minden.
Parks & Rec Advisory Board members will hear a presentation on their budget and the annual report from the Friends of the Dangberg Home Ranch 6 p.m. today at the Grandview Dining Room in the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.
The wind gauge at Highway 395 and Genoa Lane recorded a wind gust of 44 mph at 4:22 p.m. Monday. There was a report that a tree was down on Kingsbury around that time, but no indication the road closed or that power went out as a result.
We might head into record high temperature territory again on Friday with the forecast calling for 81 degrees, 2 degrees over the 79-degree record set in 1977. Thursday is also supposed to reach 81 degrees, but that’s short of the 85-degree record set in 2007.
Today the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 70 degrees. The wind is expected to be 5-15 mph out of the southwest, shifting north later this morning. It might drop a degree below freezing tonight.
