Realtors play mini-golf for charity

Teams from three Douglas real estate offices competed Saturday on 18 holes of miniature golf to donate to their favorite charity at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center.

Taking the trophy as well as first place was Coldwell Banker. Their charity of choice was Austin Kirby Foundation, who will receive $330. Beirne Shuffle placed first, and he won a $25 gift-certificate to Cook’d, sponsored by Coldwell Banker.

Chase International’s Merrick Williams, won second place and a $20 gift-certificate to Minden Meat and Deli, sponsored by Greater Nevada Credit Union. Donna Sugden of Re-Max, won third place and a $15 gift-certificate to Sonney’s BBQ Shack, sponsored by Shelter Insurance. All the players hit hole’s-in-one.

Prizes were sponsored by The Floral Apothecary, Chop Shop Hair Garage, and Carson Valley Dental Arts. Re/Max golfers Donna Sugden and Liana Walter, chose the free expresso and flowers from The Floral Apothecary.

Merrick and Cynthia Williams of Team Chase International chose the $5 donations to Dog Town Canine Rescue provided by Chop Shop Hair Garage. And Shuffle picked the water bottle, blanket and free sweet from Carson Valley Dental Arts.

After the tournament finished, the 9-hole miniature course was open to the public for free.

With a donation to the Charity Miniature Golf Tournament, they were entered in a drawing, along with all the Realtors who competed. Prizes were provided by Tires Plus and Raley’s.

Sponsors who made the tournament happen included Sheriff Dan Coverley, Pacific Gasoline, Valley Eye, Re/Max, Coldwell Banker agent Lauren Saunders, Chase International agent Gary Wood, and Chase International agent Merrick Williams. Organizers thanked volunteers Jack Butler, Terri Fahey, Malinda Bates, and Val Straw of Greater Nevada Credit Union.

The next tournament will be for first responders is scheduled for June 4 on the front lawn of Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, who hosts the greens. That is also Family Day at the museum and admission is free. For more information, call Golf’n 4 U!, at 775-220-8449.
