Genoa, Nev. — Both concerts for Genoa’s Western Heritage Days are sold out, but there will be plenty to do in town 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, including music, cowboy poetry, Chautauqua, a Civil War Camp. If you want to mosey down to the River Fork Ranch, the Carson Valley Photo Club will have a display up at Whit Hall.
Saturday is chock full of things to do, including both the Mounted Posse’s membership drive and benefit for Animal Rescue Relay at the Douglas County Fairgrounds and an adoption event at the Animal Shelter right across Dump Road from the Fairgrounds.
The Prescription Drug Roundup is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sheriffs Office, Smith’s and Partnership Douglas County. Meneley fourth-graders are recycling batteries noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge on Kimmerling.
The Carson Valley Almanac will be on newsstands starting Saturday. It will be delivered with the combined R-C and Appeal section to subscriber’s homes.
The U.S. Air Force’s big cargo planes were back at Minden-Tahoe Airport on Thursday as part of an exercise being conducted. According to online plane trackers, at least on of those planes flew in from Alaska.
Expect mostly sunny skies and a high temperature around 70 degrees today with a light breeze out of the northwest this afternoon. Saturday will hit 70 degrees with the wind pickup up to 10-15 mph out of the west, with gusts of up to 25 mph.
