In support of historic restoration and preservation, the nonprofit Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch will host the Dangberg Art Roundup on Aug. 20.
The event will feature a silent auction of original paintings, photographs and other artwork, a prize basket raffle, as well as music and a Chautauqua portrayal.
The work of local artists and photographers will be showcased and offered for purchase in a silent auction format, including contributions by Gary Wilson, Lisa and Jim Daggett, Denise Klitsie, John Manley, Charles Muench, Merry Muller, Jan Rollenhagen, Kim Hunter Steed, Sam Okamoto, LaVonne Vasick, Kevin Servatius, Carol Kennedy, Tanja Musselman, John King, Kathryn Jobst, John Soderman, Heidi Janowski, Sheri Greves Neilson, Wayne Theriault, and others.
“We’re very excited about the artists and the quality and range of paintings, photographs, and other pieces that have been contributed,” said Melanie Boudreau, one of the event organizers. “They’re fascinating and interesting individuals, and we’re eager to share their creative vision.”
Also featured at the event will a Chautauqua portrayal of noted Nevadan Eilley Orrum Bowers, presented by Kim Harris. Music throughout the event will be provided by Legacy Strings.
The fundraiser at Minden’s historic CVIC Hall from 4-8 p.m., celebrates Friends of Dangberg’s work caring for the county-owned Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, located just west of Minden. The nonprofit has partnered with Douglas County on improving and sharing the park since 2011, when state management ended. Proceeds from the event will support work on the restoration and preservation of the park’s historic structures, which date from 1857 to 1917.
In addition to the entertainment and artwork, the gathering will also include no-host beer and wine, delicious snacks from A Catered Affaire, and a raffle for prize baskets. Tickets are $30 for Friends of Dangberg members if purchased in advance ($35 at the door), and $40 for nonmembers. Tickets may be purchased at the park or at dangberg.eventbrite.com. For more information, write info@dangberg.org or call 775-783-9417.
Dangberg Art RoundUp is sponsored by Christensen Automotive, Eddy Street Vintage Market, Edward Jones Investments-Tim Cleveland, Especially for You, and several generous individuals.
Additional donations are welcome to support both restoration and an endowment, and can be made at the park, by mail, or at Dangberg.org.
