Authorities are at Prosser Lake to confirm that a vehicle and body found by an independent dive team over the weekend could be missing 16-year-old Kiely Rodni, who disappeared just after midnight Aug. 6.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office believes the vehicle and the person found inside are Rodni and her 2013 Honda CR-V, they said at a press conferenced held at 11 a.m. today.
That belief has yet to be confirmed by other means, and the sheriff's office said they were focusing on the family while awaiting other confirmation.
Searchers took to the water last week while the off-highway vehicle team hit the trails but were not able to find sign of Rodni or her silver 2013 Honda CR-V.
Rodni was last seen at a party at Prosser Family Campground about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 6. Around 200-300 teenagers and young adults from the region and as far away as the Bay Area reportedly attended the party. The last cellular data available from Rodni’s phone came at 12:33 a.m., according to officials.
Rodni is 5-foot-7, 115 pounds with blonde hair, hazel eyes and has numerous piercings and jewelry, including a nose ring. Her vehicle, a silver 2013 Honda CR-V, license plate number 8YUR127, is also still missing.
As of Friday, nearly 18,000 hours have been spent on the case, with 91 searchers involved helping follow through on 1,550 tips that have come in.
