If you find yourself foundering, Carson Valley Swim Center’s champion lifeguards are there to fish you out of danger.

The dozen Minden lifeguards outcompeted the City of Reno at the Northern Nevada Lifeguard Games on Aug. 9.

The team consisted of Capt. Catherine Wedin, Indiana Guerrazzi, Mariano Herrera, Grant Gomes, Allen Gomes, Lisa Cummings, Connor Taylor, Matt Beam, Josh Beam, Branden Britting, Diego Carcano, Kaitlyn Robinson and Lexi Timpone

In addition to just rescues, the lifeguards also participated in an obstacle course, a relay race, timed treading water, and a spirit contest that assigned the team to dress up as an assigned fast-food restaurant and cheer. The swim center team did Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The obstacle course had team members blindfolded while the newest lifeguard gave verbal instructions to lead them through.

The rescue relay included a variety of different means of extracting a person from the water.

The Carson Valley Swim Center is located on Highway 88 and Mahogany just south of Douglas High School.
