Now that the big holiday events have cleared the decks, the halls will be decked for Christmas concerts over the next two weekends.

Humorist and poet Tony Argento will put the “cowboy” in Genoa’s Cowboy Christmas 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Genoa Town Hall.

Argento will be joined by “Carson Valley Crooner” Dougie L., who will be performing classic Christmas carols in the style of Frank Sinatra.

“Once you get a transfusion of cowboy poetry in your blood, you’ll be hooked for life,” Argento once said.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert is 6:30-8:30 p.m. with dessert served during intermission.

Tickets are $30 and are available at genoanevada.org or by calling the Town Hall at 775-782-8696.

•The Chancel Choir will perform 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Sanctuary at Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville.

Featured will be a “A Weary World Rejoices,” a Christmas cantata by Joseph M. Martin.

“There will be familiar carols, with some beautiful variations, and some amazing new selections that will guide us through to the birth of the Christ child,” organizers said.

The church is located at 1375 Centerville Lane.

• The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra will be performing two holiday concerts this year Dec.16-17. The concerts will be at the CVIC Hall in Minden under the direction of C.J. Birch and associate conductors Michelle Powers and Larry Bolin.

• Gardnerville singer-songwriter Jakota Wass will perform 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville.

The concert is a benefit for seniors in Douglas County and his sponsored by the Young at Heart Senior Citizen Club.
