Arts Council distributes mini-grants

For the fourth year in a row, the Carson Valley Arts Council has supported arts and music programs in the Douglas County School District.

Teachers or schools are encouraged to apply twice a year for funds that can be used for art supplies, curriculum, equipment, and other program costs.

Some of the past Carson Valley Arts Council mini-grants have supported music curriculum at Pinon Hills and Jacks Valley Elementary Schools, clay extruder and musical equipment at Douglas High School and Missoula Children’s Theatre at Meneley, Jacks Valley, Piñon Hills, Scarselli elementary schools. Minden, Carson Valley Arts Council also provides special musical assemblies by their concert series performers at local elementary schools each year.

Carson Valley Arts Council, Executive Director Sharon Schlegel presented a $400 check to Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School teachers, Bailey Steward and Allison Meyer for art supplies and equipment for the new ceramics classes.

Mary Stoll at Scarselli Elementary School received a $400 mini- grant check this year for several art projects at her school, including the fifth-grade art club and their May 12 Scarselli Art Show.

Stoll received Carson Valley Arts Council mini-grant funds in 2020 during the pandemic for a 50-foot mural that painted by fourth- and fifth-grade students. It reaches from the entry of the school to the multi purpose room of Scarselli Elementary School.
