Genoa, Nev. — Western Nevada College campuses and its Child Development Center will be on a two-hour delay this morning due to the weather and poor road conditions. State offices are also on a two-hour delay, according to the governor’s office, so take your time.
It’s been snowing for hours in Genoa this morning, leaving 3.5 inches of snow as of 6:20 a.m. It appeared to have stopped around 7 a.m. Kingsbury Grade is pretty much entirely white. Highway 395 between Minden and Carson City appears to have been plowed but be careful.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for Carson Valley through 10 a.m. today, so don’t be surprised if you see another burst this morning. The next blast is forecast for 2-5 p.m. today
The Douglas County Library Board of Trustees is meeting 10 a.m. at the Minden Branch to take up budgeting. The trustees meet in person at 1625 Library Lane.
Ready, Two! is the military command to end a hand salute, but also seems appropriate for 02-22-2022. The calendar is an entirely human construct, so the significance of today’s date is not quite universal, though that doesn’t stop it from being kind of cool.
There’s some chilly weather on the other side of this storm, with lows dipping into single digits if the skies clear. Today’s high temperature is expected to hit 36 degrees with tonight’s low around 11 degrees, thanks to the clouds. Wednesday night could see a low of 4 degrees.
