Genoa, Nev. — Neighbors turned out to oppose a Tier 3 vacation home rental on Granite Springs over the question of a property manager. The owner was given a continuance to the March 23 meeting. Another at Stateline was approved on condition the owner install a sound meter, while a third was denied, outright and the fourth was pulled from the agenda.

Kingsbury Grade was snarled at “Icy Curve” near the top after a collision around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night. It didn’t sound like there was a serious injury, but the highway was closed for a short time. Neither that spot, nor any other, is going to be less slick this morning.

They’ll be bundling up to do some shooting at the Carson Valley Clays Gun Club down China Spring way 11 a.m. today before the welcome reception 6 p.m. at the Carson Valley Inn. The event continues Friday and Saturday.

With the wind chill, the temperature at Minden-Tahoe Airport bounced down to minus 8 degrees at 4:35 a.m. with just an 8 mph breeze. Without the breeze it’s 5 degrees.

The record low temperature in Minden for this date is 4 degrees set in 1944. I don’t have the official measurement for today, yet, but it’s got to be very close.

As things warm up, expect to hear some water flow alarms over the scanner. Most fire alarms use movement of water in the sprinkler system to detect a fire. It’s also really good at detecting burst pipes.

There might also have been some folks who fired up their sprinklers during the dry spell and may have forgotten that winter isn’t done with us yet.

Today is forecast to be sunny with a high near 44 degrees and the wind calm picking up to 5 mph this afternoon. The low is forecast to hit 8 degrees tonight.
